Your Princo DVD-R discs are some of the worst discs available. Buy yourself some Taiyo Yuden DVD-R discs. If you have a decent burner like a Pioneer you will find you can burn them at higher speeds and they will work perfect every time.

Huh but everybody says that princo dvd-r's will read the best in a thomson drive??? anyway... Princo says 1x-4x... I can burn @ 4x and 2x but not at 1x... Could the problem be that my firmware insn't updated? (f*ck my english is bad:P) You say that is'll work perfect but i still dont get it why: my xbox READS copy's of games but my xbox DOESNT read burned ISO's Can someone explain me that I have a sony burner but i'll give the details of that as soon as possible ![]()

| Re: Media for XBOX, please post your experiences! I have lots of XBOX experience. Taiyo Yuden works the best in all the drives, including the Thompson. The Princo discs are poor quality discs. The Sony burner you have is just a Lite-ON. They write discs, especially DVD-R, pretty poor compared to the alternatives too. Although, it should be able to write a Taiyo Yuden DVD-R disc ok for the Xbox. Update to the latest Sony firmware, but it will probably not help as long as you are using the Princo discs. |

| Re: Media for XBOX, please post your experiences! I thing the princo's are just fine cuz i CAN copy games but i CANT burn iso's And some other guys where i bought xbox games burned them on princo's too and they work just fine in my xbox... But is there something wrong with my burner then, or isn't the firmware not upgraden, cuz the guy i bought games from says that a princo burned at 2x speed should read well in my xbox (sorry for my bad english) Misha And another thing:P I can't buy that brand of dvd's you said because i live in Holland(amsterdam, cheeze, pot, mills) |

| Re: Media for XBOX, please post your experiences! Go to www.xbox-scene.com to make sure you are creating your ISO's correctly. You have to put your original DVD in the XBOX and then FTP the files to you PC. Then you create the ISO and burn it with a program like Nero. Once you've done this the first time you can copy your backups in the PC drive with software such as Alcohol. You cannot copy your original directly in your PC DVD-ROM. I would recommend you try RitekG04 discs if you can't get Taiyo Yuden discs. |

Who is "everybody"? Even the majority of members at xbox-scene will tell you that princo is shite media. Not only does it have serious compatibility issues, they are well known for having entire spindles of discs fail within the first year. When you can purchase Taiyo Yuden or Ritek G04 for about 7-8 cents more per disc, there is absolutely no reason to go with POS media anymore. Sorry but anyone who is claiming that Princo DVD-R work best with a Thomson drive is absolutely clueless about media.

| Re: Media for XBOX, please post your experiences! OK It's NOT the media that is wrong because i've tried it with many other discs... (good media) So stop saying that that is the problem... And there's still the question why my xbox read copy's but not burned iso's Maybe it is because my nero settings aint richt... Or it is my firmware.. can anybody give me information of that And there's the question why i cant burn at 1x... Misha PLease help me |

| Re: Media for XBOX, please post your experiences! To the last poster: I have a philips drive, and I only use ridata +R bitset to -rom, but I've heard good things about the G04s. | Re: Media for XBOX, please post your experiences! I'm using Fuji 8x DVD+R.. which normally doesn't read in the Samsung drive, but since I flashed my TDK 420n with NEC 1300 firmware, I just changed the bitsetting.. err booktype, using DVDinfo Pro, and all my DVD+Rs burned even at 4x work like a charm! No slowdowns or anything! Last edited by a99tandem; 26-06-2005 at 09:00. |

| Re: Media for XBOX, please post your experiences! Hi, I have recently bought a Sony DWQ30AB and have been burning games @ 6x using ridata g05 dvd's. I have created a few coasters and one or two games crash from time to time. Others play movies a bit choppy. Could anybody tell me if this is the drives fault (and if it is any good, or just a rebranded lite on)The medias problem, or the speed. Also could anyone predict if these problems will go away if i buy some taiyo yuden disks. I wish i caught this thread before i spent good money on dvd's and a drive. Thanx in advance all. |

| Re: Media for XBOX, please post your experiences! I don't know if this is any help but I recently bought a Lite-On 1693S. Yet when I scan my discs with Nero CD/DVD Speed it says it was recorded with Sony DW-Q28A. Not sure what that means as this burner was boxed, not OEM. As for media. I had a load of Datawrite Blue (Optima) 8X with RITEKG05 dye and so far they have all burned OK. They all work fine on the XBOX. I've scanned them and they are all 93%-95% quality. ![]() |

| Re: Media for XBOX, please post your experiences! If you're looking at the Pioneers, get the DVR-110 or DVR-110D and then flash it with the Buffalo firmware (see the Pioneer DVD burner forum here) that automatically bitsets DVD+R discs (single and dual layer) to the DVD-ROM booktype. I would use Taiyo Yuden DVD+R 8X discs and burn no faster than 8X. The RitekG05 discs are widely reported to go bad months after burning so I would not use this media for any long term storage. |
