Re: Gamecube Discs !

I said I think...

Plus, I think you have to have a special cord to stream the data to your PC

Re: Gamecube Discs !

Well those are illegal ISO files, and at CDFreaks, we don't encourage or create any illegal activities. No more help on this subject.

Re: Gamecube Discs !

<OFF TOPIC>It is as illegal as it is talking about copying DVD-Movies !!! But let's say I own the original games and I want to have some backups (which is legal), hell it's even legal to own a backup of a game you do not own, but you need to destroy the copy within 24 hours. I've seen some topics about copying X-BOX games around here !!!
<OFF TOPIC>

So anybody could answer my questions ?

Re: Gamecube Discs !

A gamecube disc hold 1.5GB of data.

To be honest with cube games being so cheap why on earth would you want to copy them? you must be a right tight arse.

Re: Gamecube Discs !

Gamecube games spin backwards so as of now it's not possible. The only current way (that i'm aware of) to play backup games is over a cat5 cable with the broadband adapter which basically means using the PC as an external drive. Who knows what they might be cooking with modchips and and stuff though!

Re: Gamecube Discs !

Ok this topic can be closed !!! The games can be back-upped by some sort of cable and can be played if you make a special server for it, there is no way you can copy it on miniDVD and play it in the GC, that spinning backwards thing is just a tale btw !!!

Re: Gamecube Discs !

Gamecube games cannot be backed up in the sense that you take an original, copy it's data, burn it onto a mini-dvd and then it will play in your machine...

The only current method to allow you to play games is:

You need to buy a broadband adapter
You need to buy fantasy star online
Cat5 crossover cable

Then what you need to do is connect the gamecube to your pc via the crossover cable and the bb adapter.

Then run fanstay star online and set up the network in it's services.

From here you swap the disc and ftp the files from the gamecube to your pc (just like xbox)

Now you cannot burn these files straight onto a minidvd, same way it cannot be done on xbox and ps2. What you need to do is stream the files back to your gamecube and play the game as though your pc was the disc. This way it plays but unfortunately with data rate the games play exceddingly choppy and all in all it's not a very nice experience.

The best thing to do is buy an xbox........

this is from nintendo's website

There is a good deal of misinformation on the Internet regarding the backup/archival copy exception. It is not a "second copy" rule and is often mistakenly cited for the proposition that if you have one lawful copy of a copyrighted work, you are entitled to have a second copy of the copyrighted work even if that second copy is an infringing copy. The backup/archival copy exception is a very narrow limitation relating to a copy being made by the rightful owner of an authentic game to ensure he or she has one in the event of damage or destruction of the authentic. Therefore, whether you have an authentic game or not, or whether you have possession of a Nintendo ROM for a limited amount of time, i.e. 24 hours, it is illegal to download and play a Nintendo ROM from the Internet.
it's for roms but i think it's basicly the same though

Re: Gamecube Discs !

i have to ask this question.....are the discs used in a gamecube even mini DVDs? I'm sure there actually specially made discs, like the dreamcast games were, they came on a 1gb specially made disc. Theres also a modchip out for the gamecube, or coming out at least, its been mentioned on the forum before.

As far as i know:

- The modchip works
- The GameCube has its own format 8 centimeters DVD. It's not DVD-ROM , it's not RAM, nor + or -. There were rumors that GameCube miniDVD's are written backwards (from outer to inner ring), but that's not true. Nintendo does seem to use its own format though.
- The only way to use backup game images is by transferring the data from your personal computer to the gamecube via the broadband adapter. It's very slow, but it works.

Re: Gamecube Discs !

The modchip that is out does allow you to boot off of a disc that has been burnt. You can use mini dvds or regular sized ones provided that the top of the gc has been taken off . The gc won't read the entire full dvd, only up to the 1.5Gb mark.

Gamecube discs do not spind/read backwards and are not written backwards either!
