DVDIdentifier 3.5.1 out now!

A new version and website of DVDIdentifier is now up!

version history

DVD Identifier V3.5.1

[November-27-2004]

Improved detection of DVD+R/+RW certified recording speeds when dealing with 'out of specification'-discs or drives that do not report the entire 'media code'-block.

Major review and update of the manufacturer database (27-Nov-04@427$74). Credits go to Robert Wilting.

Solved a problem that sometimes resulted in a freeze or crash.

Cleaned-up the output by removing the never used 'disc application code'-field.

Some minor tweaking.
It can now identify some very weird codes.

Re: DVDIdentifier 3.5.1 out now!

In the MID database, should not [DVD+R:ISO1-*-*]@=@9999 be [DVD+R:IS01-*-*]@=@0051
(zero instead of O in the third byte and linked to InfoSmart). At least there is a IS01-001 from InfoSmart too.

Re: DVDIdentifier 3.5.1 out now!

Infosmart has used that code we know that. But the point it it seems to be used by more compannies . Untill someone can opt out that they bought in at infosmart the code still points to manufacturer unknown.
Hmm will recheck if that code if it's ISO or IS0 or that there both out there.

Rechecked and it seems that the other information is pointing to infosmart in the end.
KAPI - seems to buy in.
and the other links also can be put back to infosmart or (sales) partners.
So that one will be fixed with the next manufacturer database update.

Re: DVDIdentifier 3.5.1 out now!

Yeah I know that Infosmart uses that code. However the problem was as the above info suggests that there might have been more HongKong manufacturers usseing that code.
Now after some research I found out that these other compannies like Kapi just buy in at multiple plants however customizing is not allways outsourced which made it a little harder.
It's like melody. Who claimes to manufacture themselves however they only seem to do printing and packaging.
So we will fix the infosmart ISO mid's in the next update of the list.
Also some other fixes will be done since there are some more small errors in it.

Re: DVDIdentifier 3.5.1 out now!

There probally will be a new list up this weekend.
At this moment we are aware that some small errors and typo's are in the current list. These will be corrected and some new codes will be added.
So so long you guys will probally have to life with IS01 disc's from infosmart not being indentified.

The new list is up.
A lot of small errors in the list were corrected and some new id's where added.
For the Dutch people you can call it a extra sinterklaas present.
