Re: CD-DVD Speed Disc Quality (PI/PIF) Test

Hi Erik, a very good job as aways.

A couple of questions:

- How to change ( or fix ) the jitter scanning speed ( Liteon drives ) to be independant to quality scan speed

- The jitter scanning in 20A3P looks like DC jitter ( similar to DC jitter in TA test ). Is this correct ?

Either change the appropriate registry setting:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ahead\Nero Toolkit\CD Speed\CD Quality]
"Speed Jitter"=dword:0000004

or use this tool by C0deKing:

Jitter Speed setting tool v3 for Nero CD-DVD Speed *NEW*

Looking forward to that, thanks so much for the latest release. Seems booktype is still not reported properly on the Benchmark page though.

Cheers.

Re: CD-DVD Speed Disc Quality (PI/PIF) Test

An user in Italian forum pointed about a strange behavior of latest version of cd-dvd speed. The TRT seems very instable but the issue disappear using a previous version.

I did a couple of tests and the problems it seems not related to the drive nor to the connection. The first images were obtained from an internally connected IDE drive, and the other with an IDE drive connected via USB port through an external box.

Anyone noticed the same issue?

This has been bugging me for the last few days and at first I thought it was my 4550A. Same result when I switched back to a 3550A. Then I tried new cables and no change. Finally I did comparison TRT scans using the 4.7.7.15 and previous versions with different drives and came to the same conclusion as geno888. Some results as follows. Same hold true for IDE or SATA drive.

Re: CD-DVD Speed Disc Quality (PI/PIF) Test

I can also confirm the problem here and it's happened since v4.7.7.11. RPM is down during the read and the drive even sounds noisier. Also the drive LED is blinking off at a steady rate during the test, when using v4.7.7.15.

Scans were done one after the other without removing the disc.

Re: CD-DVD Speed Disc Quality (PI/PIF) Test

I haven't seen this problem yet with 4.7.7.15 but then again I haven't really used 4.7.7.15 that much yet.

I have however observed that much earlier versions of CDSpeed (3.x perhaps early 4.x) seem to be able to reach higher reading speeds for external drives than the more recent versions. It's been too difficult for me to track down exactly which version(s) made reading more picky for external drives, and without that information I haven't bothered reporting it.

I just thought I'd mention this observation although I haven't documented it.

Has everyone remembered to set the same priority (e.g. High or Realtime) for the older and newer versions of CDSpeed? This setting is saved in a different place in the registry now (HKCU instead of HKLM).

Re: CD-DVD Speed Disc Quality (PI/PIF) Test

Haven't done any TRT with 4.7.7.15 yet (but going to soon), so far it did solve a few other niggling problems I had viz. Advanced Options for jitter now work on the 20A1S my rig (had to reg edit with CK's help earlier 4.7.x.x versions) and more reliable 20x burning on my 203B. Other 4.7.x.x releases didn't work so well on my rig and I had been relying on version 4.60 for the longest time.

Welcome to the forum.

Maybe if you give more details (time elapsed between scans, handling etc..) it will be easier to find possible answers to your question.

But if these were two consecutive passes without even taking the disc out of the drive, then either you 1650 is an inconsistent scanner (because of age for example) or it gets hot too fast (because of poor ventilation in the PC case for example).

This question doesn't belong here BTW.

Re: CD-DVD Speed Disc Quality (PI/PIF) Test

Hmm... Pioneer DVR-115D is not supported, but 111D was.

Has something happened in between now and half a dozen previous releases?

I don't have 111D attached anymore, so I can't test if it's still supported in the current version, but I think it still was in 4.750.

Is there any chance of getting Pioneer DVR-115D supported (even if inconsistent)?

How about the support for Advanced Disc Quality scan on LiteOn DH20A4P?

I know, I know - so many requests

Thanks for this great software (again), Eric!

How about the TA Jitter tab for the A3 series LiteOn drives? Do they support that or is it just the A1 / A4 ones?
The tabs are never hidden
The A3 LiteOn drives cannot report TA jitter.

It's performing seek operations during the test which it obviously shouldn't do
Things are back to normal with 4.7.7.16 which will be out soon (hopefully this week).
