Media Testing/Identifying Software Discuss, BenQ vs Liteon at Blank Media forum; i burned the same movie at the same time (nero multiple record) on the same brand of disc (princo) and my reusults are so different it makes me wonder is this is normal ? and if it is normal does that mean that BenQ is that much better ? BenQ vs Liteon

i burned the same movie at the same time (nero multiple record) on the same brand of disc (princo) and my reusults are so different it makes me wonder is this is normal ?

BENQ____DVD_DD_DW1620_B7P9_ 4 days old (bought at compusa on black friday)

How do they scan if you scan them in the other drive? Drives read discs and report errors differently. Scanning the discs in the same drive would give you a clearer answer on the difference in quality.

i scanned the disk i burned with my liteon in my benq and results were about the same (not great quality) .

might just stick with +R media for might liteon

Yes it is normal. Drives will read better or worse than another (even same models). Also the benq scans at 8ecc while the Liteon scans at 1ecc for PIF so that will make a difference also. Compare scans from the same drive to the same drive for burns. As you can see the Benq is a better reader and most likely writer.

For real world practicality, if you are doing movie backups I would trust the Liteon scans more. They seem to be pretty close to most home players for playback purposes (ie if you get higher than 280 pie or 4 pif some home players may have issues with playback, Sony home players seem the most sensitive).
