The high def format war is heating up. Paramount and Dreamworks announced that they are abandoning Blue-Ray entirely, and will be releasing their high definition movies in HD DVD exclusively.

This doesn't affect Stephen Spielberg's films with Paramount, since he has a seperate agreement to have his movies on either format.

There are also rumors of Microsoft funding this change of heart by the studios. Which you can read about here

Looks like the NY Times has confirmed that money is changing hands over this, but Microsoft denies that it is part of the deal. Toshiba carrying the cost of this by themselves?

Of course Microsoft (Universal Pictures) wants HD DVD, this war over formats will boil down to who has the MOST money. Once again it's Sony Vs. the world (ie. Betamax vs VHS). LOL, funny stuff, watching these corporate types scramble for a piece of the kill, like Hyena's , LOL
