The PX-716A is manufactured in China, so quite logicaly this new not really official(?) firmware 1.02 for the Plextor PX-716A appeared on 12/7/2004 on a chinese website: (People's Republik or Taïwan ?)

if you link yourself over to the following news which came out at 7:36 pm the same day on the french website called Gravure News ,

The firmware has been mirrored there and while reading the news you will find a direct link to download the new firmware (without any chinese characters poping up)
You just have to click at the place called " ici " (ici = here in french)

You get then directly an executable file of 698 KB called:
cdbest-716a-102.exe
and when you execute it you get the following thing which looks like "true" Plextor ! -- See the attached image below --

The changelog of the new "mystery" firmware looks very exciting ...
