Thats good for alot of people however i think they could just start dropping the prices caise people say they have dropped but they have only dropped and givin less in terms of bandwith and connection speeds.

Re: BT removes distance limits for 512K Broadband

BT is unlikely to drop prices while they have a virtual monopoly and little competition

Yeah, now that is a shame. BT must be rich with all those isps who say require BT line like wanadoo, tiscalli, fairadsl and many more. Do they rearly need people joining their broadband as much?

Re: BT removes distance limits for 512K Broadband

I'm not exactly sure how broadband works, but BT own all the telephone exchanges, as far as i know they therefore own the DSL equipment in them, they sell products like 'IP stream 500' to ISP's for a fixed price, they therefore control the baseline price. There is no cable network where i live so its wired b/band access or nothing at all.

It used to be the same in South Korea when Korea Telecom had no less than 100% market share in South Korea until several years ago. The first broadband company in South Korea was not Korea Telecom, but Thrunet which started cable internet in 1998. Monopoly is a common enemy of the people. Korea Telecom is still too big and powerful though. I'd like to see AT&T and Motorola doing a lot of business in South Korea introducing further competition but it seemed they were not interested that much.
