Adobe buys Macromedia for $3.4 billion

Quote:
SOFTWARE FIRM Adobe has snapped up Macromedia for $3.4 billion.

It's an obvious fit. The deal is being accounted for by shares and is expected to close by the end of this year.

Stephen Elop, Macromedia's CEO will become president of worldwide field operations at Adobe
Thats about it. More details I am sure will show themself before long.

Re: Adobe buys Macromedia for $3.4 billion

I don't know if we should be happy about this. Although I am quite fond of the Adobe products, I fear that by wiping out big parts of the competition will lead to a less ideal situation. Monopoly...?

Well I have two Adobe licenses. Photoshop, came with my digicam, and Creative Suite CS, payed for by some guy I dev(ved) some stuff for. So I did not pay a thing (although you of course pay for the software that comes with a digicam) but I still have two legal licenses
