Try it and report if it works. If you can set WOPC in WOPC Tool then it probably works. =)

Re: WOPC Tool

Congratulation to all members with MSI branded BenQ drives...
Quikee´s WOPC Tool is working with firmware M16.

Burned a RICOHJPN-R02 (Platinum) at 16x. Not my best no_WOPC burn but still acceptable with this firmware.

zevia: Well... I can't implement something that isn't supported by the drive.. else I see no problem and I can try. The only problem is that I don't have a Plextor drive. =)

WOPC disable and B7P9 works....

Too bad for the spike at the end, but otherwise a nice result for a Platinum JPNR02 disc.

Re: WOPC Tool

Hi Quikee

Long time no seen

Would it be possible for you to produce a similar tool for the NEC-3500?

Take care,
pdu

Re: WOPC Tool

PDU: If it were possible I already would make a similar tool for Nec 3500. But it's not so simple.. I don't think there is a command for disabling AOPC for Nec.. if there is such a command I don't know about it and Nec is keeping it secret. For BenQ it is simple.. you send a command and WOPC is disabled... you send another one and WOPC is enabled. =)

Re: WOPC Tool

Too bad that without being able to run QScan, you wont get the short lead-out times.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: WOPC Tool

That's right, crossg! The FE/TE test for Plextor (in plextools) does not affect burn time like the benq drives. The fastest PX-716a @16x is not even less than 5:50.

Think of someting interesting ... hmm... If plextor drive can speed up the burn, we may be able to open multi drive fastest quality burns in the recording hardware forum, that includes BenQ, Plextor, NEC, LiteOn, Pioneer, Toshiba, LG, etc... (do we need to include LG? just kidding.)

and I can have an excuse to buy more drives.

Edit: DMagic, plextor has their own FE/TE test.

Re: WOPC Tool

Thank you for this great tool. This is exactly what was missing to make a combination of overspeeding 4x media (requiring T9 or earlier firmware) and disabling WOPC (requiring U9 or later, until this little utility) possible.

Maxell-branded TYG01 using TYG02 strategy at 8x. B7T9 firmware, WOPC off.

TYG01 at 8x in 7:50, yes!

You are right about that...

But I'm sure Quikee will find a "work around" for this problem also.

"Warm-up" and short lead-out would be a nice "icing on cake".

Re: WOPC Tool

Ok I've added "Force Spin-Up" that should be the same as running QScan and then burn.. so burning time will be "shorter".
I will release it when I test it.. and maybe add some things. =)

BTW. It's XP style now.. see attachment. =)

Testing done.

The new "force spin-up" function is working (tested with V9 fw sofar).
And I got one of my fastests burns ever on Ricoh_R02 (Platinum branded) media.
Note. The last pic is when my drive was @1625... my prior fastest for comparison.

Thanks again Quikee.
