| Windows Pagefile This isn't really OT, as it concerns my two BenQ drives. ![]() I'm about to upgrade to 2 GB of memory. Do my BenQ's require a pagefile to burn properly, or can I eliminate it with 2 gigs of memory?

| Re: Windows Pagefile You don't need a pagefile to burn properly, two gigs will be fine. At least I turned it off, and everything works well with Nero 6.6 Ultra Buffer and my Litey. ![]()

| Re: Windows Pagefile the pagefile should not come into play until the system runs out of physical memory...i think you are saying you don't expect to run out. if windows is properly designed (ahem) leaving the virtual memory stuff in place should not affect things if you have mucho memory. i would however consider locking down the pagefile size rather than letting it allocate dynamically when needed...this frags up your drive...but again only when you run out of physical memory. |

| Re: Windows Pagefile In a strict sense a windows system will always do paging. This quote sums it up well. Same answer you will find anywhere including the microsoft site. "There is no such thing as "no paging file". If you "disable" the pagefile, all you are doing is disabling your ability to manage it. XP will always page. If you "disable it" in System Properties then XP will page to various areas of the hd when and where it likes and you'll never know it. This is clearly a much less efficient method of paging since one defined, contiguous area is easier on the OS". See Microsoft for details |
