BenQ / Philips Burner Discuss, What do BCDC, BCFC etc. mean? at CD and DVD Burners forum; Hello, I have a Philips 8801(fw 4D28) which I think would benefit from a crossflash to a BenQ 1650. But, I can not decypher the BCDC BCFC BCHC jargon. I would like the burner to work as well as possible, but, I'm not too concerned with the region

What do BCDC, BCFC etc. mean?

Hello,

I have a Philips 8801(fw 4D28) which I think
would benefit from a crossflash to a BenQ 1650.

But, I can not decypher the BCDC BCFC BCHC
jargon.

I would like the burner to work as well as possible,
but, I'm not too concerned with the region codes
right now.

Can anyone break this down for me?

Thanks.

Re: What do BCDC, BCFC etc. mean?

Welcome to the forum

BCDC etc are firmware revisions for the BenQ 1650. For example, my 1650's both have BCDC firmware.

Hope that helps. If not, I'm sure someone else will go into more detail.

Re: What do BCDC, BCFC etc. mean?

The only other thing to add is that they go in alphabetical order of date released. i.e. BCDC was released, then BCFC, then BCHC, then BCIC or whatever. BCDC is a good firmware, but I've crossflashed my 1650 to 1655 using BCIB. Runs nicely. No additionaly features, I changed from BCIC because it was burning some 16x media at 4x even when I chose 12x/16x.

The are the part numbers assigned by firmware manufacturers for their software.
