BenQ / Philips Burner Discuss, are there any known issues with the 1655 and Windows ME? at CD and DVD Burners forum; A friend of mine wants to get "into" burning and he has ME. I have never known anyone with this OS, and I was wondering if there is anything to worry about regarding DVD burning with the 1655

If you have this drive, you can try to install your in you'r friend's computer and do a test. If anything works without problems, then your friend can buy a drive too

While I wouldn't expect any issues with the drive, I recommend your friend upgrades from Windows Me to either Windows 2000 or XP. Me has the stability of Win 98 and the features of 2000 — in other words, the worst of both. Widely regarded as the worst version of Windows ever released.

Hi,

there shouldn't be a problem using that drive with WinME. Okay, Qsuite may not work according to pfloyd1, but Nero will do. But note that Win9x/ME does not support files larger than 4GB, so ripping a DVD to HDD into one image file won't work. Fortunately many ripping programs offer splitting of image files.

Window me know to be the most problematic windows from Microsoft so having problem between me and BenQ 1655 does not surprised me.

Hmm.

I think, most problems with ME are due to PEBCAK. I do maintain a system running ME, and that works flawlessly.
