BenQ / Philips Burner Discuss, Stutter problem at CD and DVD Burners forum; I hope some of you can help. I have an nforce2 msi board, with amd 2600+ 333 FSB, gig of mem, 2 harddrives with the benq as a slave on the second ide channel. I am using the standar ide drivers, and have the latest firmward for my benq 1625

Stutter problem

I hope some of you can help. I have an nforce2 msi board, with amd 2600+ 333 FSB, gig of mem, 2 harddrives with the benq as a slave on the second ide channel. I am using the standar ide drivers, and have the latest firmward for my benq 1625 lightscribe. My problem is, avi's or music stutter when played from the drive. The read speed is just frickin horrible. Whats up??? Thank you.

Yo-

Could be a couple of things-

Try good media - like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim medias

Try deleting the nvidia drivers and use the M$ default drivers-

Check to make sure DMA is enabled and thats its in UDMA2 mode.

very good idea , see the dma enabling guide also check dma settings in bios its best to have it set to auto

One other thing. If the BenQ is slave on the secondary channel does that mean you have one hard drive as master on each channel? If so that's a bad set up. Put both hard drives on the same channel and put the DVD writer as master on the second channel.
