| Strange DW1620 behavior in DVD-9 reading speed I received my new burner today and flashed it to B7P9. Everything seems fine with one big exception. When I do CD Speed transfer test and similarly, when I rip a DVD-9 that I have burned previously, sometimes the speed starts from around 7 and goes to around 16. And then the next time the same disk starts at 3.7 and goes up to 8. In both cases the transfer speed lines are very straight. Currently the DW1620 is the only device on the secondary IDE channel and is set up as the master. DMA is mode 2. There are no other modes to choose from. The only other choice is "PIP ONLY". Am I the only one who is experiencing this problem? Any ideas what is wrong? Thanks in advance.

| Re: Strange DW1620 behavior in DVD-9 reading speed The BenQ won't allow you to read the disc back faster than 8x although with some DVD-R media there seems to be a "bug" where if you don't eject the disc after burning you can read back at a higher speed. I'd recommend ejecting the disc after doing your burns and before running Nero CD/DVD Speed to test it as this should take care of this issue. If you got the No Additional Sense Information error that is why that occurs as well - just that the disc wasn't ejected after burning and before testing. ![]()

| Re: Strange DW1620 behavior in DVD-9 reading speed Well, this is not a bad bug. It's a good bug. I wish it would happen all the time. But it seems to be happening randomly at about 20 to 30% of the time. It also happens with the disks that I've burned on my Pioneer 107. The question is how come I can't get it to read at 16X max all the time. Most of the time it reads back at 8X but only sometimes at 16X.
