| problems burning 4X Ritek w/ the 1620 just got a 1620 a few weeks ago and I can't get it to work with any of the 4X Ritek -R. I tried updating the firmware (now using G7P9, forgot what the orignal firmware was) and that didn't help. I have no problem with 8X Ritek G05 and with 4X BeAll (both -R). this is what DVD Identifier reads for the Riteks: --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:RITEKG04] --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Disc & Book Type : [DVD-R] - [DVD-R] Manufacturer Name : [Ritek Corp.] Manufacturer ID : [RITEKG04] Blank Disc Capacity : [2,298,496 Sectors = 4,489.3MB = 4.38GB (4.71GB)] Recording Speeds : [1x , 2x , 4x] [6x And Higher Might Not Always Be Detectable] --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** WARNING : Some Drives Do Not Return The Entire 'Media Code'-Block When Dealing with Discs That Are Rated 6x And Higher. ** INFO : Hex Dump Of 'Media Code'-Block Listed Below ** INFO : 4-Byte Header Preceding 'Media Code'-Block Discarded ** INFO : Format 0Eh - Pre-Recorded Information In Lead-In 0000 : 01 40 c1 fd 9e d8 52 00 02 76 0e 14 88 9a 80 00 .@....R..v...... 0010 : 03 52 49 54 45 4b 47 00 04 30 34 00 00 00 00 00 .RITEKG..04..... 0020 : 05 88 80 00 00 00 01 00 06 08 12 11 86 67 80 00 .............g.. 0030 : 07 88 80 00 00 00 00 00 08 05 1b 0e 10 08 09 00 ................ 0040 : 09 97 06 0d 0b 80 00 00 0a 00 00 00 00 00 10 00 ................ 0050 : 0b 04 1d 18 a8 88 85 00 0c 89 ac 88 80 00 00 00 ................ 0060 : 0d 00 00 d0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 0070 : 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 0080 : 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 0090 : 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 00a0 : 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 00b0 : 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 00c0 : 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 00d0 : 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 00e0 : 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 00f0 : 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ --------------------------------------------------------------------------- [ DVD Identifier - http://DVD.Identifier.CDfreaks.com ] --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

| Re: problems burning 4X Ritek w/ the 1620 That media burns valid at 4x and no other speed (using the 1620). You will find that with most of the DVD-R 4x medias. |

| Re: problems burning 4X Ritek w/ the 1620 I am having the same problem with Memorex -R 4X media. The drive burns Teon 8X just fine. But I get coasters with InstantCopy and Nero burning Memorex at 4X. Have B7S9, going to try T9. I've seen other post which say this 4X media works, but I don't know how. |

| Re: problems burning 4X Ritek w/ the 1620 I've been using 4x Dupsonic's without an issue since I got my BenQ. They have a media code of VANGUARD. They are also DVD-R's. It sounds like you guys may have a bad flash. Have you tried flashing back to B7L9 in Safe Mode and then restarting into normal mode and doing a burn. After you do that burn restart in safe mode then go back to B7S9 or B7T9 (whichever you prefer) and then restarting and trying to burn again? Might be worth a shot.
