Benq 1640 scans - here

I got my new 1640 yesterday.
These are my first burns.
Plextor DVD+R 8x (TY)

All of them are burned @ 8x with DVD Decrypter.

I will also do a comparison between the 1640 and the Nec 2510 in the neutral territory.

Re: Benq 1640 scans - here

And here's Fuji 8x DVD-R (made in?)
written @ 8x with DVD Decrypter again.

I'm worried about the high PiF...
But the reading curve still is O.K...
Though I won't use this media for Data Storage. The TY (Fuji + ) are way better...

Verbatim DVD-r 8x (made in taiwan)
Written @8x with DVD Decrypter.

The PI Errors are a bit high, the (PIF towards the end too) but the reading curve is excellent.

Plextor DVD-R 8x
Burned @8x with DVD Decrypter.

Both burns are excellent. Guess this as recommended media for the BENQ.

No Philips drives are a rebadged BenQ, but Philips design their own firmwares for the drive.

Re: Post your BenQ DW1640 SL media here

Some impressive DVD-R results.

First is Verbatim 16x DVD-R at 16x.

Second is garbage Princo 8x DVD-R media which most drives can't write well (= readable afterwards).

Third is Verbatim pastell 8x DVD-R which is TY.

Re: Post your BenQ DW1640 SL media here

Wow! Nice results. Now, I know what to replace my NEC 3540 with. It disappointed me with poor results of Taiyo Yuden media burning. If DVDRW doesn't like TY, I don't like that DVDRW. And Benq 1640 definately in love with TY both + & -.

Re: Post your BenQ DW1640 SL media here

WoW, Princo owners will be very happy to see the QS in the 90s, the BenQ 1640 definately improves on the -R. Argggggggg, I bought 2 NEC 3500, 1 LG-4163 last week, I should have waited for the 1640.
