Don't know if there's a more recent firmware but this recent Ritek F1 media has caused many problems for people.

If there's no later firmware then you need to get some decent media like Verbatim.

Re: Philips dvdr1648p1 wont burn dvd's via nero (but will burn cd's such as music)

P2.4 is the latest firmware for this drive (supports mentioned media upto 16x), but as TimC said RITEKF1 is real crap on Philips/BenQ drives.
Bought one 10 pack once and all I managed with a DW1640 was 12x coaster burns.

BTW samplayford, your drive should support SolidBurn and OverSpeed futures that can be enabled or disabled in Nero CD DVD Speed (File-> Options-> Transfer rate).

Also, did you choose "DVD burn" in Nero as shown in attachment.

Re: Philips dvdr1648p1 wont burn dvd's via nero (but will burn cd's such as music)

i did choose dvd burn in the option + i have used nero express to burn as well, i have jsut installed the new nero 7and that will still not burn my dvd's.

but i have downlaoded a free dvd burner program that successfully burns data onto a dvd disc the program is called amazing cd & dvd burner which i downloaded off of downlaod.com. but this program is limited and i can only burn data and i would like to use nero as this had the other features i require.
i have used different media types and still no success.

when i got the write error from nero this is what the log showed.

Re: Philips dvdr1648p1 wont burn dvd's via nero (but will burn cd's such as music)

Various things.

. Nero 7.0.0.0 was the first version of V7 and really should never have been released as it was full of bugs.

. Why multi-session for this burn? Multi-sessions usage is the cause of many DVD burn errors.

. Why the 16x burn speed? That's very unlikely to be successful with this poor quality media. However, the burn failure is almost immediate so that's not a contributory factor in this failure I guess.

How come you were able to select 16x when the original Disk Info log only shows 2.4x as the allowed burn speed? 2.4x is often the default for non-recognised media but now you were able to select 16x.

I still think a quality media will have more chance of success than this Ritek c**p.
