Re: Is this normal for my Benq1620 with dvd identifer with -R media?

Yes I have.
On the sony and fuji both rated 8x my burn@8 takes about 13min, my burns @12 takes about the same and my burns@16 takes about 20mins.

basically I'm one of those whose benq1620 was able to burn the sony and fuji @12 and @16. I have burned the TYG01 at 4(took about 13min) but I haven't tried the others recently.

Have you looked in the device manager and see what DMA mode your at? You should be at DMA Word 2 and not PIO mode. Are you using an ultra (blue plug on one end) cable?

I'm sorry
Yes I have, dma 2. Switched back and forth b/w 80 wire and 40wire cables flat and round. Even master, slave and cable select jumpers. Switched IDE drivers back and forth b/w stock ms driver and nivia drivers neither helped.

Nothing wrong with that. It's just a matter of design in latest DVD Identifier.

You will find the available write speeds displayed, as shown in attachment.

So you're not burned any full disk less then 12 mins? Get CD-DVD Speed and try a burst rate test should be 23mb.

I have but recently only with +R and at one time -R. The last time i checked it was at 23mb but I can verify again

I had stopped using -R about 2 months ago its only until recently I decided to use up my stock. Thats when I notcied my -R issue so I took out the Benq out of that system and placed it in this current one here but that didn't help.
