Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for Benq/Philips DVD-Writers

Ala42,
I am going to flash back to the first firmware you sent me. All is good with the media codes that you changed especially with the MKM001. Do you need any other tests with the .cvt firmware you sent before I flash back?

As already mailed no further tests are needed with the .cvt firmware.

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for Benq/Philips DVD-Writers

MediaCodeSpeedEdit V1.0.8.1 is out. MCSE currently does not support strategy swapping with automatic renaming if the media code occurs in several tables. If you want to swap MKM 001 to MKM 003, you have to swap both the 2.4x and the 2.4x-8x MKM 001 entry to MKM 003.
Code:
Changelog
1.0.8.1 22 Jan 2006
        - added first support for BENQ DVD DD DW1650 BCDC
        - added first support for BENQ DVD LS DW1655 BCDB
Thanks to alan1476 and zebadee for the alpha tests, also to
DVD_PREDATOR and jkami for the additional tests.
MKM 001 media is reported to support 8x write speed, which does
not match reality. Please report other media table inaccuracies.
Download Changelog

I don't think there is a TYT media code.

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for Benq/Philips DVD-Writers

Hi
I believe it's a typo made by DVD_PREDATOR & should be TYG02 & TYG03. TYG02 being 8x 4x & TYG03 is 16x 12x 8x 4x.

My guess is he ment YUDEN000 T02@YUDEN000 T03, at least that was what I patched for his test.

Well I had no problems with Yuden000-T02-000 @ Yuden000-T03-000 and also no problems patching TYG02 to TYG03 at 12X. I did'nt make the TYG02 16X because for me it writes better at 12X.

You are right Beach Hobo, I have also tryed this and it doesn't work. Strange because during the testing I loaded a .cvt file that worked perfectly.

I loaded BCDB firmware, copied Yuden000-t03-000 to yuden000-t02-000, then de-selected 16X write speed, and hit 'set speed'. But when I loaded this onto my 1655, dvdidentifier and nero still see 16X as a choice for my yuden t02 disks. When I re-load the modified .exe into MCSE, it still shows only 12x, 8x and 4x for this media type...

I known of no Benq firmware starting with 'D', and as the forum search can not find it, even with a 'B' as first letter, I have no idea what file you are talking about. By the way, that is what links are for

Sorry ala42,
It's BCDB.CVT...
Will find the link to the CVT file and post it for you...
Just hold on a few minutes...

The Link is at http://hoppy.tk/dvd-rw/benq/1655/

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for Benq/Philips DVD-Writers

One of the safety checks when loading .cvt files was too paranoid. The filesize limit is increased now to allow the larger 1655 .cvt files, available with the next release. Thanks for the info.

So I guess copying of yuden000 write strategies does not really work? I saw that zevia got bad burns from yuden000-t02s as a side effect of doing this. Looks like I need to rename strategies instead?

Hard to say,i t worked fine for alan1476 and DVD_PREDATOR at 12x, zevias's results were horrible. It would be fine if you tried both. Start with renaming, which is the safe way to see if the drive likes your T02@T03 as a reference, then try the lossless swapping.

Just to make sure I did this correctly. I highlight MKM 001-000 2.4X and then another window opens up and I choose MKM 003-000 2.4x to replace the strategy for MKM 001. And when finiished MKM-001 will be listed while MKM 003 turns into MKM 0x1. And I do the same for the row that lists 8x, 6x, 4x, and 2.4x
Is that correct?
