BenQ / Philips Burner Discuss, MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for Benq/Philips DVD-Writers at CD and DVD Burners forum; ala42, here another post from me. I downloaded the latest version of MediaCodeSpeedEdit 1.0.1.13 and opened the Benq 1625 BBFA firmware. What I did; - changed the YUDEN000T0 2 strategy to the YUDEN000T0 3 strategy, - I unchecked the 16x leaving only the 4x, 8x and 12x speeds - checked

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for Benq/Philips DVD-Writers

ala42, here another post from me.

I downloaded the latest version of MediaCodeSpeedEdit 1.0.1.13 and opened the Benq 1625 BBFA firmware. What I did;

- changed the YUDEN000T02 strategy to the YUDEN000T03 strategy,
- I unchecked the 16x leaving only the 4x, 8x and 12x speeds
- checked the 'increase read speed',
- saved the firmware and flashed the drive with it.

Now if I check with Nero CD/DVD speed 3.80, the YUDEN000T02 media is still 2,4X-8X. What am I doing wrong?

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for Benq/Philips DVD-Writers

Update for above post.

When changing the YUDEN000T02 strategy to the YUDEN000T03 strategy and removing two (2) speeds from another media (at random) I will get 2.4X,4x,8x and 16x speed for the YUDEN000T02 media. The 12Xspeed isn't there for some strange reason.

ala42, I hope you can work with this info. I also spoke to Pinto2 about this all and maybe you can contact him for some more info.

These speeds were reported by the drive, right ? Do you still have this modified firmware ?

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for Benq/Philips DVD-Writers

Flashed forward and backward with all (3) available 1625 firmwares and can't see anything wrong with speedpatched firmware BBEA and strategy swap YUDEN000-T02@T03, when burning.
There are other issues with 1625 stock firmware though and ala42 has been informed.

Nothing. The 1625 firmwares do not support 12x writing, call it a bug or missing feature.

If you disable 16x writing, you are left with 8x max speed. This has nothing to do with MCSE.
Special thanks to Pinto2 for running the tests.

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for Benq/Philips DVD-Writers

ala42 could you please add support for the firmware version B3.4 for Philips PBDV1640P (download) Currently if you load the B3.4 firmware is does not display any +R discs. Also I don't suppose you could add an RPC1 option too please.

Thanks

I could, but I won't because this is not my patch.

Thank you to the author of this utility

Hello from a very new newbie at this stuff! I just got a Benq DW1625 and used Speed Edit for the first time to try to improve the drive's performance, and I must say I'm thrilled, especially with the improvement in read speeds - thank you very much for a great utility that even a novice like me can use!

Retry: How can I increase DVD+RW burning speed?

Hello everyone.

I'm afraid to bother you with repeated question. But I hadn't get any answer.
ala42 and everyone, please answer me.

I'll repost my question below ---------------------------------------

Hi. ala42.
Thank you for the great program MCSE...
I have a question.
How can I increase DVD+RW burning speed?
I have a Benq 1620 pro with B7U9. And try change RICOH +RW 2.4X to 4X, but it dosn't work.
I can write it only 2.4X.(I tested that formatted/not formatted media)
Is it a "Known Bug" or "Known Limitation"?
Thank you again.

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for Benq/Philips DVD-Writers

I join 0cd in the same request for LG 4163. It seems that Ricoh/Ritek 4x certified +RW media is detected at only 2.4x while NEC, Plextor and Pioneer drives write this media at 4x without the slightest problem. The media identifies as RITEK 004. Mediacode:

Now it is a "Known Limitation" . I have not tried this myself, because I do not expect good results from overspeeded RW disks.
The firmware does not support overspeeding for +RW media at all, so it probably uses the max speed of the disk as limit instead of the entries of the media table.

Which revision code does DVD Identifier display ? Is it RITEK 004-048 ?

It is RITEK-004-000. Do you think it is anything you can do about ?

No, but you can . RITEK-004-000 is not supported by the LG firmware, so it looks like the 2.4x speed you get is the default speed for unknown +RW media. RITEK-004-048 is supported at 4x. Renaming RITEK-004-048 to RITEK-004-000 with MCSE should allow to burn them at 4x. In case the dyes are the same, this could work. If they are too different, this can kill your RW media.
Btw, this is the wrong thread for LG related problems .

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for Benq/Philips DVD-Writers

For Benq 1620 users:

Is it normal to get about 0.9x - 1.1x speeds (using 1620 as reader and burner) when using Nero DVD Speed: Disc Quality Test, and also for DVDInfoPro pif testing?

I've used the speed patch and still it's slow.

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for Benq/Philips DVD-Writers

Update your Nero CD-DVD Speed and use at least B7L9 (might be at least B7P9) for scanning.

Am already using G7V9 firmware, and version 3.80 of CD-DVD speed. DMA is enabled
