| Re: Liking this 1620........ I picked up my ProdiscR03 at Blankmedia.ca @ $.72CDN for Ink Jet Hub printable. I am using my 1620 in a USB 2.0 external box and XP Pro takes 6 minutes 15 seconds for a full burn. Fantastic!!! |

My current Rima TY's haven't been as good as the cakes I've got from them in the past , but I'll have a new order here tomorrow.. ![]() All the Samsung 01's I had were killer! ![]() I, for whatever reason, like to see total PIF's under 100 on my own personal stash! Based on all standards it is a ridiculous goal, but I just end up with more confidence in long term reliablity. Does that make me a "Freak"?..... Probably not, just a dope! Probably should dump the 1633 and fire up the 812@832 and check for better scans.. Regards- Testing the Fuji's.............

Wondering: If you use the same media and source, then burn the same speed (12X) using various apps, ie@ Nero, Alcohol, and CloneDVD2. Will you end up with similar results or does the app produce a better burn? Maybe some testing is in order............. ![]()

| Re: Liking this 1620........ Well this sucks! The Fuji TY's have continued to be a problem....... Need some "coders" to find a way to apply the TY01 and Prodisc3 strat's to the 1620 as TY02's........ ![]()

I scan these discs with:
My conclusion is that TY has a QC issue in play. I'm not saying they suck, they are still rather good but what we are seeing is not what we have come to expect from Taiyo Yuden media. | |

| Re: Liking this 1620........ I totally agree with the TY QC issue. I have never gotten 'great' result from TY T02. I thought it was just my 1633s not giving accurate scan (because all you guys scan with 832s, seem to be great). Most of my scan doesn't have a hump in the middle but PI/PF are very high towards the end of the disc. This is no matter if I burn it at 8x, 12x, 16x. I then got a BENQ1620, which burns great +R media.... same thing. Now I am screwed with whole bunch of TY T02 stocked up..... My best burn so far is MCC003 Verbatim 8x DVD+R (with claim of up to 12x) in 1620.... which leads me to conclude that 1633s can scan properly....just the TY T02 I have gotten (100pk spindle from Newegg and 50pk spindles from BB) really SUCK!!! |

| Re: Liking this 1620........ I'm in the same boat. I was having such good success with the Samsung (TY01), I tested the TY02's and the first cake looked real good. Now I'm sitting on a couple 100 of them. Fortunately the 1620 is doing a better job with them (not great) than my 3500. I also though it may be my 1633 but testing on the 832 gives the same result..... Maybe some new FW will correct the issues.

| Re: Liking this 1620........ Heard that 2.C8SE is supposedly better with TY T02. However, if the problem is with TY's QC, then one generic strategy will not be able to handle all the variation in the quality..... I agree that 1620 is better in handling these lousy batch of TY T02... where did you get your TY T02, pcdoc? |

| Re: Liking this 1620........ I also picked up a Benq 1620 recently. It's not as though I don't already own enough recorders, but I was reading good things here in the Benq forum and was interested in playing with one. Here is a Kprobe scan of an 8X DVD+R PRODISCR03, burned at 12x with DVD Decrypter. The iso image was 4,681,418,752 bytes, and it recorded in 8:20. The scan looks excellent to me. |

| Re: Liking this 1620........ PCDoc, I purchased the PRODISCR03 media from supermediastore, see this page: http://www.supermediastore.com/prodisc-8x-dvdr.html The label on my spindle says "Prodisc silver 8X DVD+R" "DVD02X0090" The OPTODISCOR8 were purchased locally at Fry's. |
