| Re: its been awhile... heee... not a trick question.. just that i have a dvd recorder which happens to use a philips model VAD8301.. and guess what the laser died  .. i suspect that is similar to those model using the philips chipset... all i have to try is to dump the firmware out.. and flash the replacement drive with the original firmware..

| Re: its been awhile... since the 1620 is also using the Philips NXP chipset... i will do the unthinkable.. flash it to a 8031..lol

| Re: its been awhile... found a DVD HP400I but the seller only allows bids from ppl registered in the States... anyone can help me..i will paypal you and cover the diff for the charges....just have to get the writer shipped to a address in Oregon.
