RMAd'd my drive and Benq replace my 1620pro with 1620 non-pro...weird but came with a black face plate...
anyway, i tried erasing a 4X CD-RW by princo , but it keeps saying fixation error or write error....is this another dead drive??

Try some other media before drawing a conclusion. Princo is not known for quality media and cd-rw's tend to deteriorate anyway. I suggest a dvd of good quality.

And yes, I still remember all your posts and all the problems, but not that many of your problems have been (BenQ) drive related IMO.

Just the idea about trying erase a 4x CD-RW with a fast 16x DVDRW drive makes me think there are "other more severe problems" then your drive...
I use my 5y old HP 9100 CD-RW for tasks like that you are up to.

To my knowledge 4x CD-RW´s are not compatible with your BenQ. Get at least 10x CD-RW media.
