| Help for Cendyne48X12X48(Benq4824p) to 52X24X52 I bought Cendyne in OfficeMax this week and it was Benq 4824p The firmware of Benq are exe type and must upgrade in windows. I couldn't separate the flash file and bin file. And I tried to edit its autoexec flash file but in vain. Does anyone have upgrade successfully? Thx |

| I've never heard of this overclock being done before.

| I used Ultraedit to copy the bin file from the 5224p firmware, and then used mtkwinflash to update. It was successfully to upgrade to 5224p and it worked normally on burning disc on 52x, but there were some problems on closing disc. So I changed the 4824p firmware back. My method to get bin file from original firmware Using Ultraedit to open the firmware from Benq Copy Pos: 2e0dah to ae0d9h 02 97 9c 02..... ........FF FF FF 00 to a new file and save as *.bin (524,288 byte) then use mtkwinflash to update. Remeber to backup you old firmware before you do this. |

| Interesting. So these drives are compatible with mtkflash?

| Whoops, I didn't realize other people were working on this. Mine's working fine at 52x (I also bought the Cendyne at OM), and what's interesting is that the patch was only one byte. Specifically, changing the byte at 0x0002E0D0 from a "D" to a "K" in krc.exe (the unzipped executable that you download from Benq's site, not a firmware bin). My patched version, just in case you don't want to edit that one byte, is here: http://marcusschwartz.com/krc.new.zip Note that I don't have any 52x media to test this at the moment, but I forced it to record an audio cd at 52x on a 48x disk, and it worked fine. If you all want, I could put up some test results of some kind. -=Marcus |

| I can read the firmware with my 4824P with mtkflash (in DOS), but it said "unknown flash type". I haven't tried flashing with mtkflash or mtkwinflash because it's working fine as it is (I updated the firmware with the Benq Windows flasher).
