Re: which firmware for TYG02

First, TYG02 is 8X media. If your BenQ is one of those that is picky about firmware, there is no shortcut. Start with B7S9 and work your way up burning at 8X.

Hmmm, I would say start with B7V9.
First burn @8x. If not good (PIE max >280, PIF max > 16) try another one to check if you have a bad media. If good then burn @16x. If not good, try again @16x. If the second one is good, stick with B7V9.

Obviously, if the second 8x not good, go down to B7U9 and B7T9. That's how I would test if I got a new drive.

chas0039 suggestion is also fine although I would suggest starting from B7T9.

Re: which firmware for TYG02

I just start with the last known good firmware and work up, but I like your method better if you want to stop when you are content. I would try all 4-5 and then compare.

It's not a crap scan but it's not perfect either. If you look around deeper, you can find a coaster with 97 quality score. Spend a little more time to learn how Nero CDSpeed calculates the score. Hint: PIF max.

Of course it's a crap scan... It has so many PIF as all my 25 YUDEN000T02 from a batch counted together (not really because I burned some at 16x). =)

Have you got your 1620 now...? Post us some scans with Yuden TYG02 media.

From what I have seen you are using Litey 411 and NU DDW82 right now.
I hope you have done some search to undertand those drives use other settings (in Nero CD Speed) and repport read errors (ie. QS) different from a BenQ drive.

Hope it helps.
