BenQ / Philips Burner Discuss, Firmware bug or bad media at CD and DVD Burners forum; Hi, Recently, I started burning MXL RG04 and MAXELL 003, and got strange results in quality scans. I'm beginning to wonder whether this is a firmware bug or bad media (which I personally doubt). SB off for known media, WOPC off, all burnt at 12x.

PIE could be lower. Try DVD+R MCC 004 or DVD-R Yuden G03.

Well, I think I have a problem because of the vast differences of scans on discs that are such high quality. To me, scans like that are not acceptable as one drive that I intend to play the discs on is very picky, and would probably not like those results at all.

You'll know it after you tried it.

Disabling WOPC is not always a good idea. SolidBurn and WOPC options are there for a reason and nothing we should neglect.
If your player is that picky, you should first try other setting then blame the firmware/drive or media.

BTW, you never told us what kind of software you are using and no word about your compu.

Well, I burned the discs with Nero Burning ROM 7. These sorts of problems havent happened with the 5 TYG03 discs that Ive burned with the drive today (PIF max's of 5 and PIE max's of 5). This was with WOPC and SolidBurn ON/ON, so this might have solved it . Unfortunately I have used my very limited supply of MAXELL 003 and MXL RG04 discs up, so I cant test any more - and even worse, theyve been taken off the store shelves, so my only local supply of MIJ media is gone

My computer is fine - I know it isnt a problem because its never, ever done this to me, and the TYG03 burns (at 12x) were brilliant. No multitasking took place at all during any of my TYG03 or Maxell burns.

Also, the picky drive is 74 miles away at a relatives house
