| DW1650 (minor) problems I recently bought a DW1650 w/ BCDC firmware. So far I'm happy except for these 2 things: 1. It's noisy when reading discs. (i.e. playing a song). Not much so when burning, though. 2. When using Disc Quality on Nero CD-DVD Speed, it always stuck at 3% for a few minutes. I wonder if it's a known bug for 1650? |

| Re: DW1650 (minor) problems not sure about the cd-dvd speed issue, but often times using a speed control program cuts down on noise (nero drive speed control or the speed control options in anydvd) this limits how fast the drive will spin cutting down on noise. i've heard both ends of the spectrum regarding noise and BenQ drives...my 1655 is very wuiet, but i've seen people complain about the noise...i guess it's partially subjective, and could also partially be due to batches of parts or manufacturing locations or something... also i like how you say that it's a "minor" problem...most people are like "OMG i'm dying, my burner doesn't workk ahh someone help me now, it's an emergency!" reminds me of a sign in my mechanic's waiting room: "poor planning on your part does NOT constitute an emergency on my part" i wish i had any suggestions abut your quality scanning issue. a few minutes is a REALLY long time in the computer world...is it really a few minutes? does the read speed line on the scan reflect this pause? |

| Re: DW1650 (minor) problems hahah, yeah i think it's minor because it doesn't affect the 2 main functions: reading and burning. iirc it's more or less than 2 minutes. yeah, the speed line reflects this pause by stopping. but this pause doesn't happen all the time though. it seems more often when i scan the disk immediately after burning. |

| Re: DW1650 (minor) problems Do you open and close the disc tray first before scanning? It may not help at all, but worth a long shot.

| Re: DW1650 (minor) problems Glad I could help. I found with my 1650 if I didn't open and close the tray, it would give me an error at the end of the scan. Happy Burning!! ![]()
