How did you get the idea that there is going to be new firmware release from BenQ for model 1640 and would be called BSMB?.

Maybe because of this...? BSGB, BSHB, BSIB, BSJB, BSKB, and finally BSLB?

Hopefully they'll release an update to QSuite 2 at the same time, to address a problem (for some of us) when using CloneDVD2 and Overspeed.

I don't mean any disrespect, but are you reading the same threads in the BenQ forum I am? I have read of many problems, from read problems to many others. Lots of RMAs.

Re: DW1640 BSMB firmware release date

BSLB failed to write a RITEK P01 disc at all in the CDFreaks "first look" at that media. That's something there'll probably be an update for.

Yo alan-

Agree - don't see any compelling need for overspeed to get good burns - only the risk of bad ones-eh!

Re: DW1640 BSMB firmware release date

Hopefully they'll expand SolidBurn to support all kinds of media, not just +-R. And make it more flexible if possible, meaning clearing individual entries from eeprom and so on. I wouldn't mind 16x P-CAV either, or for ultimate flexibility: choose between P-CAV, CAV, whatever. Ok, 16X CLV might be a stretch.

I would love to see another update -- though right now - with 3 of them just in, seems like they're doing well

Re: DW1640 BSMB firmware release date

CMC MAG AE1 fix would be nice, Having to turn off all the extra features to get a burn faster than 2.4x is a pain.

The 2.4x SB bug was fixed with BSLB, at least with all the dash media I've tried... if you're still running BSKB I suggest that you update.

So the bottom line here is ,BSMB is still not scheduled and there's no one using new BETA firmware at the moment?

Re: DW1640 BSMB firmware release date

I am interested as well !!

I have two DW1640 and neither will burn Verbatim +R DL reliably

I bought both these drives because of recommendations on these forums and now am starting to regret it.
