Re: can anyone tell what this error may indicate?

I have copied three other discs within the sereis so copy protection i don't think would be a problem and dvd decrypter ripped the info to my hard drive with no problems. Still unsure. something that may help when I use dvd drive speed the max speed for the 1640 has changed from 48X to 8X (I use BSOB media code speed edited) but the 1655 is just fine at 48X strange? Also I tried to reflash the drive and BQflasher doesn't recognize either drive? Will redownload flasher and try that way. any suggestions appreciated.

48x is the max cd write speed, 8x is the DVD write speed of the media you had in the drive while testing. This means nothing.

Re: can anyone tell what this error may indicate?

Could it possibly be a media problem? Have you had any successful burns from that batch of discs? I've had a similar problem with SONY08D1 with my 3520, and they worked fine in my 1693. Although the discs were still blank after removing them from the 3520. Do you have another drive to try the media with? Have you tried testing a disc with QScan?

Almost certainly bad media, try another brand or batch (different spool/box) of disk if possible.
Otherwise I'd check the image file (maybe re-rip it if you still have the original) as it could be corrupt .

Re: can anyone tell what this error may indicate?

thanks to all who posted. The problem appeared to be two bad discs. It was just shocking because I have never had this problem with verbatim and two discs in a row just got me worried. Thanks again, all appears to be well.

Use ImgBurn to burn DL.

You can always return the spindle to the store you bought for exchange and tell them that two of the discs are defective. If you bought them from your local store (not online) it would be much easier to return (no shipping but gas).

I also agree with _chef_ that ImgBurn is better for DL burning.
