BQFlasher

Hello everyone.

I've written a flasher for BenQ/Philips drives - BQFlasher. With BQFlasher it is possible to flash the drive with .EXE firmwares so there is no need for .CVT firmwares anymore.

CAUTION - Use at your own risk!!

The flasher works great for me but there is no way of knowing how it will behave in a different computer setup (shouldn't cause troubles unless ASPI is screwed). Flashing with this program is therefore dangerous.

Successfully (cross)flashed:
BenQ 1620 B7W9 -> Philips DVDR1640P P3.6 (using Adaptec ASPI)
Philips DVDR1640P P3.6 -> BenQ 1620 B7W9 (using Adaptec ASPI)

BenQ 1640 BSLB -> BenQ 1640 BSKB (using Adaptec ASPI)
BenQ 1640 BSKB -> BenQ 1640 BSLB (using Adaptec ASPI)

Using Nero ASPI:
BenQ 1620 B7W9 <-> Philips DVDR1640P P3.7
BenQ 1640 BSRB <-> Philips DVDR1648P1 P2.4 <-> Sony DRU-810A 1.0d **
BenQ 1650 BCIC <-> Philips DVDR1660P1 P1.6
BenQ 1655 BCIB <-> Philips DVDR1668P1 P1.6
BenQ 1655 BCIB <-> BenQ 1650 BCIC (no lightscribe support)

**Sony 810A-R users, please see this post and this thread!!!
Some people successfully crossflash Sony 810A-R to BenQ 1650 but be careful !!

DOWNLOAD:
You can get BQFlasher here (rar) or here (zip).

Important!!
You will need Nero WNASPI32.DLL in the same folder with BQFlasher.

COMMAND LINE SWITCHES:
BQFlasher version 0.7.0 and up supports command line switches which disables checks. With this switches you can force to flash even if the drive is not normally detected.

The command line switched are:
/showAllDrives - shows all drives in the system
/disableDriveChecking - disables checking if the flashed drive supports BenQ commands...

TODO:
  • Support for other OS when I have time

Quikee, let us know if your flasher will work with the 740 exe (1640>>740)

Re: BQFlasher

wow quikee, you are prolific thanks so very much!!

I'm always cross-flashing my drives, so this is exactly the tool I've been waiting for. It's such a nuisance to hunt down CVT files, and nobody releases the CVT with RPC1 patched, so I end up flashing once with CVT and then once with RPC1. You've made my day, man!

Hi
No you can't, but it works vice versa. 740 > 1640/164B
When trying to flash back you need WinDWFlash + CVT.(tdb CVT.101rpc1)
As BQFlasher does not recognise Plextor f/w.
Plus 1620 > 1621 > 1620 etc.

Quikee, thanks!

P.S. Used Nero's wnaspi32dll

Re: BQFlasher

Very nice. Thanks Quikee

While I have every confidence in Quikee's work, if you can't afford to lose your drive, or you are not familiar with cross flashing, don't use this tool.

Also, you don't need to use this tool unless you are cross flashing. If you are just changing versions, use the BenQ/Philips firmware or for RPC1 the TDB firmware.

We need to clean up the sticky/Read First threads. BenQ has the most, 12 threads.

Not really... it's not the tools fault if NVidia Drivers and Adaptec ASPI don't like each other.
