Do you have another DVD burner you could try erasing the disc with ?

Does the BenQ drives LED go solid green when you put the disc in ?

Or I would try erasing the disc with other software like CopyToDVD or Alcohol.

I had the same problem with Ricoh dvd+rw's. My Benq doesn't like them at all. I couldn't erase with Nero or any other software but after I put them in my Philips drive, they worked fine. Traxdata rw's work very well in the Benq - I have one that has been erased hundreds of times and still verifies perfectly. I suggest a change of media.

I had the same problems with my BenQ 1620 refusing to recognize discs and having read problems. The next day it died. Good luck.

Doesnt sound good if the drives LED doesnt come on when the disc is in it.

Do other DVD+RW discs work with it or is this the only one you have, I would at least try another RW disc to see if it works correctly.

This problem is quite common with Benq's. The drive is probably ok, it's just r/w's it doesn't like. I have to do a full erase with another drive and then the Benq detects them and writes to them ok.

Re: benq1620 help with dvd+rw

I have the 1620 OEM with firmware G7Z9. I cross flashed it with a lot of help from this forum to B7V9. This drive still will not read any kind of DVD media but it will read all CDs. I even tried a DVD movie and it would not read it. Is this drive dead or am I missing something?
Thanks for the help!

Probably the dvd pickup sensor is faulty. I would return it for a replacement. Benq quality control has been pretty bad for quite a while now and it's pretty much hit or miss whether you get a good or a bad one.

Yes, sorry I was replying to yekots's post. I would point out that other users in the forum with problems with drives not reading dvd's but reading cd's ok have found the problem to be inadequate power supplies. Yekots, you could try upgrading your pc power supply and see if that cures it.

If you do end up RMA'ing the drive, don't forget to flash it back to OEM firmware.
