Hmm,... I would be interest in knowing why too. If there is something wrong with it they should let us know.

BenQ Support BLOWS!

Their support blows, in fact, is non-existant!

I have a DW800A with +/- firmware B3C7 and CANNOT read DVD-R made by a Panasonic DMR-HS2. Sent 3 inquiries to various email-addresses for their support, never got an answer, just a confirmation with a case number the first time, nothing since.

Last one I bought...

If BenQ has a local support number, use that instead. I've been dealing with BenQ Canada about my own drive, and I've found that the Email support is horrible too. The phone support is much better if you can deal with the suicide inducing hold music. That Michael Jackson clone singing the BenQ song over and over is likely to drive someone over the edge.

If you can survive the hold music, and get a human being they're actually quite helpful -- surprising for a tech support line these days.

Re: BenQ Support BLOWS!

I've been using B3D7 for a few weeks now - a few dozen burns, although none to -R yet - without any problems. I did find that the burner burned cheap media really badly with this firmware, whereas I got a couple of ok burns with the older firmware, but that could be the media as much as the firrmware. Good media (TY, Ritek RiData) burns great with this firmware and I'm really happy.
