BenQ / Philips Burner Discuss, Benq DW1600/1620 - writing/bruning at 16x speeds??.. at CD and DVD Burners forum; ok ...we all know...MAC , SEN and me ( all from singapore ) tested and tried the BeNQ DW1620/1600...and so far how many sets can write consitently at 16x??...none....even on BenQ 8x+R media also not able to ...max was 12x... Nero burn at 12 x only!! ...see

ok ...we all know...MAC , SEN and me ( all from singapore ) tested and tried the BeNQ DW1620/1600...and so far how many sets can write consitently at 16x??...none....even on BenQ 8x+R media also not able to ...max was 12x...

Nero burn at 12 x only!! ...see time 6:55 for BenQ 8x+R...where is 16X speed??..



even TY 8x+R media is not able to write at 16X......



so what i did...i called service center up and a guy robin answered....told him our story and guess what he say..." You should use the IDE cable that comes with the DVD writer"
i was like hur???..over the phone...and i told him all cables the same....he say no no...our cable is special bundle....

i was like ok...give you the benefit of doubt....i will test your benq cable tonight.....

MAC....SEN...try the cable that comes with the drive....see can write at 16X or not....:laugh: :laugh:

so ...fellow forumer at CD Freaks...any one has managed to attain 16x speed using their Benq8x+R media??..

PS btw i using all 80 wire IDE cable....


i want to see 16x speed on +r media like what CDrinfo did!!!

I have burned 16x on ricohR02, yuden 02 , I have burned 12x on mcc003, I have never seen benQ media for sale in any store in my city I live in USA.

eleewhm: Nero will show the speed you choose, regardless of the actual burning speed. I think you know that. There is a fix for this. This reg entry will force Nero to show the correct burning speed:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ahead\Nero - Burning Rom\Recorder]
"ShowSingleRecorderSpeed"=dword:00000001

This works great. Try it.

ok did the following test...on BenQ8X+R Daxzon AZ2

ok here goes

BenqDW1620 on Primary Master Primary Slave no drives.
Using the bundle "SPECIAL"IDE cable that came with the drive..
and BenQ 8X+R Media
Data Size : 4.36 GB

Test 1 : 10:55 ....crap...:mad: 8x
Test 2 : 6:37 ....crap ...not 16 x yet....12 x niah or is it 13x??..
Test 3 : 6:20...... at last.. 16x
Test 4 : 6:12 ..... again 16x

Nero screen capture....

Test 1 : too crappy no need capture...:mad: :mad:

Test 2 : not song...6:37 ....crap ...not 16 x yet....12 x niah or isit 13x??...



Test 3 : a bit song...6:20...... at last.. 16x



Test 4 : maybe si be song...but wiat i burn next disc again 16 x then i Kan Si Lang Song....6:12 ..... again 16x

Speed Setting in Nero : Max Speed

Disc 1 : BenQ 8X +R Media ( so called can go up to 16X ) Time : 6:55 ( 16x?? naaa...TDK can do better than this timmings...)
Disc 2 : Verbatim 2.4X -R coaster - user issue...
Disc 3 : Verbatim 2.4X -R ok Time : 25:16 expected cause 2.4x media niah
Disc 4 : Verbatim 2.4X -R ok Time : 26:10 expected cause 2.4x media niah
Disc 5 : PioData 8X -R ( R05 ) ok Time : 8:17 ( 8x ) expected 8 x max..on this code
Disc 6 : TY8X +R ( YUDEN000T02 ) ok Time : 7:30 ( 8x ) ..knn...16x where??...

Below disc all Benq 8X +R Media base on Firmware it is suppose to be able to burn up to 16X
Disc 7 : BenQ 8X +R Media Time : 10:55 ( where is 16??. )
Disc 8: BenQ 8X +R Media Time : 6:37 ( where is 16??. )
Disc 9 : BenQ 8X +R Media Time : 6:20 ( 16x?? Plextor is doing this at 12x )

ur test 2 the data size is not 4.37gb.i guess thats why u did not hit the 14-16x speed range.

Almost full size, cos i loaned him my DVD with the whole Naruto series & he backup a few sets.

16x 12x the difference is only 30-40 sec lets not fight over so small a time, but the last scans look very nice

Nice speed there, is it a flashed DW1600 or true DW1620? August made?

Seems like those August made DW1600 (flashed) are more likely to overspeed at 12x instead of 16x.

hopefully the new firmware to be released soon will take care of some of this issues.....

ok...so far only 2 of my burnts have hit i would say sub 6 mins speed..aka 16x speeds.....

it's a flashed DW1600, don't know the date but the original firmware was B5C9, so i dont think it's a very new drive

i am very happy with the quality of burns i am getting on my BenQ DW1620


i love my BenQ even more now....where can you get this sort of burn..

On BenQ DW1620 :

currently doing another burn on TY OEM ( from ACCA Products)

Time took : 8:28 ...not 16x...TY OEM really got issue...
