Re: Which BenQ drives are these Philips drives rebadged of?

Philips model numbering might be confusing but still logical, because it seems all 1*** drives sofar are based on Philips Nexperia chipset.

zevia already confirmed that 1660 is a rebadged BenQ DW1650.
G/B stands for Gray/Black.

SPD1400BD/96 and 1400BD/97 are a harder call and most probably these drives are only aimed at asian market.

Looking at specifications/design/numbering I think those are also rebadged BenQ DW1650, maybe 1640 but not likely. Note though, this can only be confirmed once we have a firmware reading from one of those drives.

Why I assume they might be 1640's? Based on specs, "lower numbering" and the SolidBurn logo is the same as on my 1640, not seen on earlier versions of DW1640's or Philips 1648P.

In the end the difference, performance wise, is not that big between a 1650 and 1640, and the specs are the same, when on latest firmware.

Reading linked pdf files, we can learn that the bundled software package differs, hense the */96 and */97.

I hope Jan70 or zevia can fill in with more details.

Re: Which BenQ drives are these Philips drives rebadged of?

*1660 and SPD1400BD are the same (as can be seen here) and they're rebadged DW1650s. The SPD1400BK appears to be the same as the Philips *1648 though which is a DW1640. Hence I'm not sure I agree that Philips model numbering is logical

Re: Which BenQ drives are these Philips drives rebadged of?

thx for ur info, but still confuse....

I find just 3 models currently sold in China from Philips China homepage.

PBDV1660B/00, PBDV1660G/00, SPD1400BD/97

From the link jsl posted, Philips UK say all these three models are same as "DVDR1660P1", but I'm very confused on the number and prefix.

What's the differences between DVR1660K/00 and PBDV1660....

I found they label "PBDV" ones with "Bulk".... And what exactly does it mean?

"DVR" and "PBDV" means just different package?

Yeah, I've been looking at that page for quite a while (weeks), so I knew about that before posting.
But I don't think all drive models lined up there will end up being rebadged DW1650's. Only time will tell.
