My Benq 8X -R media is Sony08D1 and burns fine at 8X. Not the best media, but not the worst either by a long way, and good value

In regards Fujifilm I've seen not so great results but it could have very well been the discs I only had a few pieces & bought them at a local store (not normally where I buy stuff from) you can see the scan below not great at all but it complete's the transfer rate test without error.

As you can see from this link others have has better luck with this media so it could just be of varying quality.

The best thing to do is simply try a disc and then do quality scan and transfer rate test to gage the results.

DVD was burned at 8x

I tried Philips DVD-R 8x (Fujifilm 03) burned @8x with the Benq 1620 B7T9, got coaster-like results; I'll post a scan if I can find the disk in the coaster spindle (I keep some for further investigation, such as this).

Did you use the quick/smart scan by chance? If so, those 2 modes are not very accurate. Using normal or full is the best.

Also check if your drives need defragging. I tend to forget to do this regularly and that caused several bad burns of late (scan quality:50-75%). After defragging, the scans improved to 92-98%. This was with some cheapo Optodisc 8x dvd-r w/TYG02 media code.

Re: BENQ 8X - FUJIFILM03 - Anyone with these media, Please read.

with QSCAN, the BENQ 8X (-R)/FUJILFILM says 8X is not recommended in smartscan and normal scan. I upgraded to B7P9 and still have the same issue.

ANyone able to solve this issue?

Ignore what Q-Scan is saying and actually burn a disc Q-Scan isnt 100% correct all the time, then check the results of the disc with Nero CD/DVD Speed to see what it comes out like.

I agree. QScan is OVERLY conservative in most cases.

I have exactly the same problem. Also, when I burn the discs, the scan indicates a far-from-ideal burn.

On an NEC3500 the burn quality is much better.

Judging from others' scans I would suggest the discs themselves are of variable quality.

You can try using G7M9 or lower.

When I use 1610 B8T9, B8S9 and hacked B8M9, the burn result is awful compare to official B8M9 burn.

Hey, I got the same media when I bought a 200 pack of BenQ8X-R media at Futureshop on sale for $59.99. I was hoping to get SONY08D1 because it burns at 16X in the BenQ. Well, this FUJIFILM03 media burns great at 8X, I burned about 10 dvds and all turned out pretty good. But, I felt cheated because I was hoping to get the SONY08D1 media. So, I went back to FutureShop and exchanged the media with the same and this time I got SONY08D1, and it's great, it burns at 16X in the BenQ with great results. I noticed that the FUJIFILM03 spindles will say made in Taiwan and the SONY08D1 spindles will say made in Malaysia. Also, the FUJIFILM03 spindles have black bottom holder and the SONY08D1 has grey holder. I would recommend you take it back and get the one with the SONY08D1 MID.

Re: BENQ 8X - FUJIFILM03 - Anyone with these media, Please read.

I have had good luck burning Fujifilm03 discs at 8x speed with B7P9 firmware. Here are two links to some error scans that I posted before: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.ph...2&postcount=44
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.ph...&postcount=356

Remember that error scans are only a subjective guide at best. I have burned an entire 50 pack spindle of these and all the discs have played back without errors on my home DVD players. The quality score was around 95-96 for these discs, but they played back every bit as good as discs that received quality scores of 99. I like them.

Re: BENQ 8X - FUJIFILM03 - Anyone with these media, Please read.

Hey I also got these media from FS in my 200 pack. I was upset because I expected the Sony. My quality score is usually around 95. I have tried to burn them at 4x, 8x, and 12x (12x with the B7L9 firmware) and got the same quality scores to my amazement.

Re: BENQ 8X - FUJIFILM03 - Anyone with these media, Please read.

Recently I installed windows 2000 sp4 and visual studio .net.
The burn result is really mess up.
The maximum pi at 1.5GB is already jumping off the roof 600.
Suspecting that windows configuration does effect the burn result.
