BenQ / Philips Burner Discuss, BenQ 1640a - Opens/closes too fast at CD and DVD Burners forum; I have two 1640a drives, and just a few minutes ago had a problem with the 2nd one. The first drive would open, but the second one wouldn't. I tried to restart but the computer froze and I had to hold the power button in to turn it off.

BenQ 1640a - Opens/closes too fast

I have two 1640a drives, and just a few minutes ago had a problem with the 2nd one. The first drive would open, but the second one wouldn't. I tried to restart but the computer froze and I had to hold the power button in to turn it off.

After the restart, I noticed the 2nd drive now opens incredibly faster than the 1st drive. I should be happy, but I have a feeling there is just something wrong with the drive.

Any suggestions?

Hi
Goto Nero tools, click on CD/DVDSpeed. Select drive with disc in. Press f8. This will run a load/eject test. Compare your results to those in the thread referred to in my other post.

Re: BenQ 1640a - Opens/closes too fast

When I open the program and hit F8, the screen blinks once and does nothing. I also manually went to the load/eject test under the menu on the top.

Do I need to be on a certain screen for this?

Once I click on that test, it doesn't do anything, just quickly blinks once.
