BenQ 1640 & quality audio riping

Dear colleagues, would you tell me which drive is better for quality audio ripping (by EAC) - BenQ 1640 or Lite-On 1213 (with 1233 firmware)?
I've got them both .
Thank you in advance.

Re: BenQ 1640 & quality audio riping

I use my liteon for reading cd's. For some reason I can't get eac 9.5 to read my 1640 correctly. I have not checked into the matter so I don't know if I am the only one who has this problem. Since I have other cd/dvd readers I have not spent the time to fix the problem.

One of the problems is eac says my 1640 does not report c2 errors and I am pretty sure that is not right.

Have you tried to configure the drive options for the 1640? If so, what does it tell you about c2 errors and cache and Accurate stream feature.

The 1640 does report C2 errors BUT it does not use any form of reporting that EAC understands so EAC cannot use this feature.

Do you know a program that can use the C2 reports from the 1640?

My opinion is that, if you want quality audio ripping, you should use eac even if it means not using your 1640. When eac reports there were no errors, you can guarantee that their will be no pops, clicks or jitter. If there is a problem reading the disk, eac will give you a list of the possible bad spots and will let you play just the few seconds around the possible error to see if the error is noticeable or not so you never have to listen to the whole file just to check for possible errors.

Yep, I done that. I've got EAC 0.95 Beta 4 now, and it says:
Accurate stream: yes;
Caching: yes;
C2: no.
But, anyways, it grabs well (at least for my ear ).
BTW, I try to enable "offset correction" feature, but still can't find the right CD that fits . I try Joe Satriani's "Surfing..." and Jeff Beck's three last CDs, but they're "not in the database". Which CD will fits for "offset correction"?
