| Benq 1620 won't read any blank dvd+r or cd-r discs Hi, I got the Benq retail 1620 from the zipzoomfly sale. I upgraded the firmware to the latest on the Benq website. I burned my first dvd fine. The dvd was a dvd+r Memorex 4x. Now I'm trying the Memorex again and it won't recognize it. I tried multiple blanks. Then I tried multiple blanks for Ridata DVD+R 16x discs. No success. Then I tried out CD-R 52x Memorex discs and no success. What does work? Any dvd or cd already with data on it reads. Just blank cds or dvds won't work. The green light starts flashing and then it stays lit up. I click on the drive icon(which changes from "dvd-rw drive" to "cd drive" after blank disc is inserted) in my computer and it says it cannot read, "E:\ is not accessible. Incorrect function." The drive appears to be functional according to windows device properties and I tried downgrading the firmware and still no success. Any help would greatly be appreciated, thanks. |

On my other computer my sony dvd drive allows windows explorer to recognize that it is a blank disc and empty. I can even burn data to the disc via windows explorer on my other computer. | |

| Re: Benq 1620 won't read any blank dvd+r or cd-r discs I'd make sure that you don't let Windows write anything to the disc before trying to use Nero, I'd disable it's ability to write to discs completely for that matter as it can cause some conflicts. Under my computer, you can right-click on the DVD Burner drive and go into properties and under the recording tab you can uncheck the CD Writing box. Then insert a new blank disc with nothing written on it. There may be some driver conflict although I'm no expert on the subject, in any event I'd turn off Window's built-in writing abilities. |

| Re: Benq 1620 won't read any blank dvd+r or cd-r discs I fixed it finally. Ironically enough the problem was that I needed to ENABLE windows xp recording. Windows XP Pro does not seem to recognize blank discs at ALL if it's not enabled.
