Check to see that both your hard drive and 1620 are in the proper UDMA mode Here. Please post a Nero info tool log if the above doesn't help.

doesnt matter which hdd the data comes from, its never smooth

Look at this. I get the same type of graph with my USB enclosed 3500. After the drive hits the point the USB is saturated. Somehow data cannot get from the drive. Can you post a burst rate test? Burst rate should be 22/23.

@D-Sisive. Are you using the Silicon Image Raid controller in Raid or IDE Mode, if so why not put two hard drives on the southbridge controller and use the secondary IDE channel for the optical drives. Might help and you won't have a mix of hard drive and optical drive on the same IDE channel.

1) do NOTHING else while burning
2) which DMA mode are you running in?
3) how fast are your hard drives?
4) computer specs plz (consider putting in ur sig)
