BenQ / Philips Burner Discuss, 1655DW burning CD's at less than 12x at CD and DVD Burners forum; Hi, I have a 1655DW, without getting into specifics on why, can CD's be burned at 2x or 4x ? Is there a CD Media code table like there is for DVD's Thanks, JL

1655DW burning CD's at less than 12x

Hi,

I have a 1655DW, without getting into specifics on why, can CD's be burned at 2x or 4x ? Is there a CD Media code table like there is for DVD's

There's no reason to burn at such slow speeds unless you have some *very* old media. Most current drives do not support lower speeds than 8x.

Most here reckon that 16x for Audio CDs & 24x for data is a sensible starting position.

What's probably most important is to use quality CD-R media.

No. Minimum speed is 12x for the DW165x and their clones. The drive might run slower if you have some really ancient 4x rated discs.

Something like this is surely present in the firmware.
