LG Burner Discuss, Unofficial LG ODD Firmware Links at CD and DVD Burners forum; I don't know if you have a "problem" at all. First do some tests to make sure if you have problem or not. Did you burn any disk at all?

Re: Unofficial LG ODD Firmware Links

That's not doing tests.

If your burner doesn't burn after processing 3%, you probably have a very basic problem. Find out why yourself. Since you have your DVD burner in your PC, only you can do it. I mean what can I do if you are just repeating saying your burner doesn't work and the rest of what you have said doesn't make sense?

Do various tests and post screenshots.

Re: Unofficial LG ODD Firmware Links

Kenshin,

I appreciate that you are quite helpful on these forums. But I think that you are being quite rude by saying that what I have typed makes no sense.

The LG 5160D is an external drive not an internal one!

I am not sure how you would propose that I run tests when I am not able to burn beyond 3%.

I am not an ignorant user, so to ask me to try different media is not going to fix the problem – do you think that I have not tried this before posting my issue on a public forum.

I also appreciate what a firmware upgrade is supposed to do. So do you think that it is possible that it may have affected my burner? I see so many posts that have experienced issues with firmware, so why you would disregard what I am asking is beyond me.

Read my question and see what I am asking before you draw a conclusion.

Re: Unofficial LG ODD Firmware Links

I didn't draw any conclusion because you repeated just that you couldn't "burn" anything. Since not everyone is omnipotent, you have to provide as many details in your questions whether you are ignorant or not. You seemed to ignore my suggestions completely. What's so difficult to post screenshots?

And your posts are completely off-topic in this thread.

Many are, and many do, and no offence, but you only have 9 posts (atm). Experienced users generally post more information concerning their OS, their software & revision, their previous & current firmware revision, and the media's identifier code & labelled manufacturer of the media they are burning.
It answers most questions immediately & lets problem solvers eliminate all the newbie questions.

That's what it's there for!
It's supposed to "fix" problems or improve quality with media ... occasionally it can be adverse.

Re: Unofficial LG ODD Firmware Links

I've got a LG HL-DT-ST GWA-4164B which was working fine before (burnt and ripped at 8x), and now suddenly won't rip or burn above 0.8x.

I checked the DMA settings, and it was set to PIO. I changed it to "DMA if possible" (there's no way to force DMA), but no matter what, it runs in PIO mode.

There is also no way to disable PIO/force DMA in the BIOS, the only options under PIO are 1/2/3/4 (no off), and under DMA it's Disabled/Auto, no Enabled.

AHHH!

I can find firmware for the GSA series, but not GWA... are they the same?

Also, I upgraded a Lite-On in the past, and there are certain models that can use the same firmware despite being different models/classes (i.e. the top-end drive in a series is the same as the middle-range, just with upgraded firmware)... but can't find any chart like this for LG drives...

Thanks.

That doesn't sound like a firmware problem.

Re: Unofficial LG ODD Firmware Links

Did you recently add another drive on the same cable? Sometimes reversing the master-slave positions will fix this type of issue.

Very long time, everyone.

My server is now completely offline. The URL's don't work anymore. I will try to make them online again but it may prove to be difficult due to cost and other factors.

Hm. The server is right between this monitor and keyboard I'm working with and the HDDs are intact. I don't know how to make it online from this new location. (The computer I'm running is another PC with a old AMD Socket A Thunderbird processor.)

My drive in my hp laptop is listed as gsa-4082n is there any firmware upgrades available for that drive. I noticed gsa-4082b at htt p://tdb.rpc1.org so i am wondering if that one is compatible with my drive.

The GxA-4082B is a half-height drive (desktop), the GxA-4082N is a slim-line drive (laptop), they are not compatible with each other on any level.

We have a patched versions of CC15, but if that's and upgrade it's hard to say as you don't specify what version you have now. Suggest you use DiscInfo and post a summary (File, Save). http://hijacker.rpc1.org/discinfo/
