Yes, you can go back-and-forth with TDB's firmwares: JL03 <=> JL11 <=> JJ11.

Re: "Panasonic based" LG or Renesas based LG ?

the firmware is here:
http://tdb.rpc1.org/#GSAH10N

you can afterwards flash with TDB's patched JL11 firmware, after that you'll be able to flash with "regular" unpatched LG firmwars that will be released in the future.

Re: "Panasonic based" LG or Renesas based LG ?

Do you think that's a better idea an H10N than a 4166b (except the LightScribe of 4166b) from a point of quality ? H10N supports UDMA4 only if I flash it with JJ11, but 4166B comes "nativelly" with UDMA4 and reading of DVD+-r at 16x. Also 4166b is not a Renesas chipset based, it's a Panasonic, maybe it's better couse of this but I don't think so.
What would you sugest to do ? I khow that H10N has some good new capabilities (12 DVD-RAM most important). I'm not really interested in LightScribe feature of 4166B. I want it only because of "very good to excellent" CDFreaks mark

I don't know which to buy. What would you do?

I'd go for H10A (pretty cheap) and cross-flash it to H10N.

Re: "Panasonic based" LG or Renesas based LG ?

Are ASUS dvd-writter good for quality scaning of CD\DVDs made with LG dvd-writters ? (excluding H10A/N/L, H20X).I heard that Benq dosn't like H10X/H20X quality, but for Lite-On is ok. I mean for 4166B, 4167B, 4163B, etc
I know that ASUS dvd-writters are very slow scanning, but I want to know if their results reflect the real quality of that media written with LG.
Wich are very good for scaning? Only Lite-On?

Asus are rebadged Pioneer drives, and Pioneer drives aren't very good scanners.
use a Lite-On or BenQ for scanning.

Re: "Panasonic based" LG or Renesas based LG ?

thanks! . Is there a posibility as one LG GSA-4166B drive to work ok, no problems at writting or reading or compatibility with system, BUT the quality wouldn't be as one described in that review fron CDFreaks?
thanks

The problem with BenQ writers used as scanning drives applies ONLY to burns done with the H10x/E10x series of writers. Burns from all other LG models should not be affected by this and scan fine on BenQ writers. Since your drive is a GSA-4166B, you don't have to worry about this.

However, as dodecahedron mentioned, Asustek DVD writers are not really good scanning drives anyway so you should avoid them if you are want a scanning drive.

Nope, DVD-R DL write speed is 4x max on this drive.

Re: "Panasonic based" LG or Renesas based LG ?

Vasy, if you look at this link you'll see that the GSA-4166B firmware has Verbatim DVD-R DL (MKM 01RD30) with 2x, 4x and 6x write speeds.

here's the pic:
