During the test we did not try 4x media at all, so there might be a general 4x overspeed lock. Check what happens with RICOH-R01 to RICOH-R03. Swapping to 16x media is handled a bit different than swapping to 12x media.
Anyone else having swapping problems with 4x media ?

It looks like I can. The problem with the strange and short tables used by the firmware for higher speed media on the 4120 is worse, the tables are even shorter. Maybe the 4120 firmware will help to understand what this nonsense is used for.

I have bought over 1000 of the Verbatim 4X Yuden000-T02's they come in pastel colours.... And all have 4X written on the box(and made in Japan ). Funny thing is, while the packs of 50 have all been Yuden000T02's the packs of 25 have been a random mix of Yuden000T02's and Yuden000T01's (which are actually 4X) hence verbatim only certify them at 4X

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for LG DVD-Writers

Just tried to change DVD-RW write strategy from OPTODISCW002 (2x) to OPTODISCW004 (4x).
Lokks ok in MCSE table, but Nero and DVD Decrypter show available write speed 1x, 2x even though in Media table OPTODISCW002 is 2x only and OPTODISCW004 is 4x only (no other write speed available)
Will try now DVD+R RICOHJPN R02 (8x, 12x) @ RICOHJPN R03 (16x)

I heard that the disk could not match class A standard, so industry mark it as 4x to sell..but the core is 8x...overburn can be 12x and after I edit A104 FIRMWARE can be 16x

Thank you for this great tool Ala, but I have a problem swaping from RICOH-R01 to RICOH-R02 or swaping from RICOH-R01 to RICOH-R03, too.

Do you have a solution for this problem ?

Re: MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for LG DVD-Writers

I've tried single swap (MCC01RG20->MCC02RG20) or double swap
("MCC01RG20"->"MCC02RG20") ("MCC01RG20 x" -> "") with no luck
Always gets recognized as 4x media even if the MID is a complete
replacement of the other
