lg GSA-H10L REGION ISSUES?

Hey guys,
I recently bought the LG GSA-H10L about three weeks ago......It's been working great, recently i was using DVD Shrink to back up a move and it asked me to set the region on the drive. I set it to my region and it burnt the disk fine. Since then I havent been able to burn anything else using Nero 7. It has been giving me all sorts of errors. Im sure its a simple problem but i sure could use some help. I appreciate it. Zackattack

Re: lg GSA-H10L REGION ISSUES?

Hi

First of all, DMA is apparently off for your Samsung DVD-ROM. Have a look at this thread about enabling it.

Secondly...

LGs love good media. Try something better, like Verbatim.

Just a couple of things to try, one of them could help!

There have been complaints with Memorex 16x DVD+R discs which were RICOHJPNR03. The same discs have given other people problems burning as well. Your writer should not have a problem with this media code (actually rebranded Ricoh 16x DVD+R discs) when the discs are Ricoh branded. But for some reason, discs of the same media code under other brands seem to be of sub-standard quality compared to the Ricoh branded stuff. It is entirely possible that the discs are so inconsistent that some of them work fine while others in the same cake box end up as coasters. So it could still be a media problem. Try to get hold of some decent media like Verbatim.

Setting the region code of the drive should not affect it's ability to burn. The region code of the drive only comes into effect when you read a DVD movie disc, not when you write discs.

The other thing I noticed is that you have your DVD writer sharing an IDE cable with your WD hard drive. This isn't a good idea as it slows down your writing speeds because your writer will always be competing with the hard drive for the use of the IDE cable's transfer capacity. It would be better to connect both hard drives on one IDE cable and your DVD-ROM and DVD writer together on another.
