lg gce-8320B firmware 1.01 downgrade

my lg 8320B only records cdr at 8x and cdrw at 4x
tried upgrading to firmware 1.04 but that didnt solve the problem.
want to send it back to where i bought it but i am not sure if upgrading the firmware violates the warranty
so i would like to downgrade to 1.01 before i send it back, but can't find that version on the net.
the label on the drive says firmware 1.01 so i think its a good idea to downgrade before sending it in

any ideas and/or suggestions or a link to version 1.01??

upgrading firmware do not woid warranty as long as you use the officially released firmware upgrades.

You have made sure that it's not your CD-R discs that is causing the problem? Some drives is picky about media.....

And the CD-RW disc must be a high speed CD-RW to get speeds higher than 4X

yeah, i used the official firmware. thanx for the information, i hope they know that, too...

i tried all kinds of different media (cdr that is)

with cd-rw's it only does 4x instead of 10, also tried different highspeed media

i even stuck the drive in a different (clean) system and freshly installed software but it did the same there

so i figure it must be the drive (hopefully)

i sent it in now, lets see what they make of it...

Need v1.01 FW!

Hi!
I updated my GCE-8320B to v1.04 but since, my drive is sooow slooow that I think I can outrun it writing on paper with a felt pen!

Yeah, my media might not be the best, but now, a 4min burn @v1,01 is now over 6min!!! I noticed in nero CDspeed that the drive does not burn faster than 20x on this media anymore. I did run the test before updating to v1.04 and the drive DID get (and held) 32x at the end.

So, I want to go back to v1.01 please!

If not, I will have to try my multifunction electronics components tester on it You know, the one that,s rectangle shaped with two electric contacts on one end? A "+" near one of them?

Drive details:
Made january 2002, orig. v1.01, 8mb
Used as Sec Master, on VIA chipset mtb, uses Win2000
Reflashed 3 times just to be sure, and ok all the times!

Thanks!
Martin

downgrade gce-8320b 8mb

hi
do you still have the v1.01?
bin/hex - do you know how to (de)code them?
i have gce-8320b 8mb - and the v1.04 renders my drive useless :-(
i want to try v1.01 to check if it is just the firmware - or something else - before putting gce-8400b onto it ;-)
otherwise i will get problems with LG when i send it in for warranty
thanks
