LG Burner Discuss, LG Firmware Update at CD and DVD Burners forum; Hi! I just updated my LG's firmware from v1.01 to v1.04. Everything went fine and seems to be working ok. After the update a new file was created in the directory where I ran JE3.EXE called MICOM.DAT. Does anyone know if this is a backup

LG Firmware Update

Hi!

I just updated my LG's firmware from v1.01 to v1.04. Everything went fine and seems to be working ok. After the update a new file was created in the directory where I ran JE3.EXE called MICOM.DAT. Does anyone know if this is a backup of the old firmware? If not, anyone knows what it is?

Thx

I doubt it's a firmware backup. But to be honest I've no experience with LG.

Sorry don't know the answer to your "new file" question. I am about to flash the same writer, I have xp so have to use a boot DOS floppy. If you did the same, what switches did you use after the .exe, from the list provided when you run je3.exe?

Thanx

LG Firmware Update

I didn't provide any parameters... I just followed a README that was on the page where I downloaded the firmware (Portuguese LG support page). It said that the recorder should be connected to the 2nd IDE as master, without any other device as slave.

I then created a boot disk from WindowsXP (you just have to format a disk and choose create DOS boot disk) and ran the je3.exe followed by the name of the flash file (I don't remember its name).

Regards,
