| Re: Verizon Fios TV From what friends tell me, it is better. We won't have it hooked up in my city until next year. It does have a much higher bandwidth capacity. Picture quality on TV is always dependent on the picture resolution and the method of pixel deployment on the screen. |

I am surprised Verizon has been laid "Fiber Optic" in City Of Long Beach since 3 years ago and almost every neighborhood of Long Beach is ready to have Verizon Fios services.

The phone are very clear, the TV especially some HD channels are wonderful, some are so-so. I think the Food Network HD are the best picture and the 5.1 Dolby sound has a very deep bass compared to other channels. The standard channels are blury in my 42" samsung plasma. I'm trying the 5/2 mbps plan for the internet, it was a downgrade from my previous cable service 10mbps but so far it fits my need and no slowdown at any time. I might upgrade to 10/2 mbps plan later.

| Re: Verizon Fios TV i got cable in the pass and now sub. to verizon fiber. 15 Mbps/2 Mbps plan for $49.99 been 2 year now. i notice real download speed is 2 Mbps at all the time but one thing i like it over cable is i never got a single lost connection. Don't have sub. to tv so i can not tell. They just sent me a notice that they'll increase rate change to $62.99. That's suck when i still see $49.99 in their site. | Re: Verizon Fios TV I think you meant 2 mb/s (megabytes per second) which roughly translate to around 15mbps (megabits per second)? 1 byte = 8 bits, thus 1 mb/s = 8 mbps.

Also I have found they are not always at fault on the speed issue. There are some speed tests that will test from multiple sites around the country. I have found download speeds to be a problem with the site I am downloading from most of the time, but not always. Of course If you have wireless and you're not using mac address filtering, it could be the teenager nextdoor downloading using your connection. Also if anyone is using wireless and you don't think your download speed is what it should be, take a look in your router and see if you don't have more people conected to your router than there should be. Nobody wants to get a letter frm the RIAA because the teenager across the street is sharing 300Gb of music on your connection. You might be able to get out of it, but what a mess.
