For satellite you NEED an appropriate receiver.

A satellite receiver.

I've heard of tuner cards that decode cable, not sure if there are any for satellite.

There are lots for dvb-s (all pci cards or external), not much for dvb-c and dvb-t...

Sadly there are none yet for dvb-s2 (hdtv mpeg4) :-(((

Re: Recording Satellite using TV Tuner? Can U?

At least, I've seen nothing recorded from SkyHD, the only HD satellite provider in South Korea. If it were possible, lots of 100Mbps internet users would have been uploading and downloading petabytes more HD-recorded programs off satellite. The SkyHD receiver is made by LG, Samsung, or Hyundai but can't be used for any other purpose.

The receivers for HDTV content provided via BSkyB and PremeireHD will come from Pace & Philips mainly.

But they are not yet available. :-(
