Re: DVR to DVD

There's whole forums here on various kinds of conversion. Personally, I just said to hell with it and went and bought a set-top DVD recorder and connected that to my receiver-DVR. That also gives me the option of live-recording to the DVD too. I promise you that after one or 2 episodes of capturing and converting to DVD, you will think that $200 for DVD recorder sounds pretty reasonable. The results are excellent.

Hi rdgrimes.

Saw your reply. Can you use DVD+R DL disc. As you know the HD broadcasts are very big (60 min = 5gig).
I want to put some HD movies on dvds that are in my DVR.

You can't record in HD format, you record in 480p via the SVHS connect. AFAIK, there are no DVD recorders that will record from component inputs. There are a couple that have component inputs, but recording is disabled.

Help the Dallyllamma
I have the same needs as dallyllamma, i.e. I have Motorola DCT3412 DVR from Comcast, HP laptop with XP SP2, internal and external DVD burners. How do I capture recorded stuff from my Comcast DVR to my laptop for subsequent burning to DVD? I'm not picky about HD. I just want to burn Law & Order reruns - for example.
Thanks in advance,
Bob
